Biographical Sketch
of
Reverend Clarence Buchanan Sr.
Rev. Clarence Buchanan, a native of Vardaman, Mississippi, was born to the late Mr. Bobbie Joe and Mrs. Cora Buchanan. He is married to Rochelle Washington-Buchanan and together they have three children, Clarence Jr., Ladayjah and Skyler; and one grandchild, Kameron.
After accepting the call of Jesus Christ to the Gospel Ministry in June of 1995, Rev. Buchanan was licensed by Rev. Robert Brownlee of New Zion MB Church and ordained by Dr. Charles Davidson at Town Creek Church in West Point, Mississippi.
In 2002, Rev. Buchanan entered The Christian Life School of Theology in Starkville, Mississippi. His dedicated work and intellect proved rewarding for he received his Associate Degree of Theology in May of 2004 and his Bachelors Degree of Theology in 2005.
Committed to emphasizing the need for Christian Education, Rev. Buchanan continues to remain active in classes and Congresses on the local, state and national levels. His course work includes: Growth of the Sunday School at the Ministerial Institute and College in West Point, Mississippi and a wide variety of Christian Education courses in the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi.
Rev. Buchanan received a Certificate of Completion in Old Testament Survey from Whitfield District Christian Stewardship from Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church of Grenada, Mississippi in June, 2001, a Certificate of Completion in Seminar for Young Pastors and Ministers in Charlotte, North Carolina in June, 2001 and Certificate of Completion in Seminar for Young Pastors and Ministers in St. Louis, Missouri in 2002 while attending the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
In addition to actively participating in civic and religious activities in the Gore Springs community, Rev. Buchanan has served as President of Ministerial Alliance in Oktibbeha County, President of Gethsemane District, and First Vice Moderator at large of the Grenada District Association. He also serves as instructor for the Grenada Congress of Christian Education and In September of 2010, Rev. Buchanan was privileged to be selected as the the devotional message speaker at the National Baptist Convention’s Annual Session in Kansas City, Missouri.
Leadership skills, dedication and constant study of God’s Word earned Rev. Buchanan pastoral assignments at First Baptist Longview in Starkville Mississippi and Greater Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gore Springs, Mississippi. In September 2006, with God's guidance, Rev. Buchanan founded New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Gore Springs, Mississippi where he currently serves as pastor, preacher and teacher.
